Quick Sigorta Invests in the Future with an Agricultural Vocational High School and Dormitory Project

A protocol ceremony was held for the Quick Sigorta Mahmut Erdemoğlu Agricultural Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and the Quick Sigorta Mine Erdemoğlu Student Dormitory, which will be built by Quick Sigorta in Nurdağı, Gaziantep.

On January 15, 2025, a protocol signing ceremony was held at the foyer hall of the Gaziantep Governorship in Nurdağı. During the event, Maher Holding Chairman of the Board, Mahmut Erdemoğlu, and Vice Chairwoman, Mine Erdemoğlu, shared details about the 16-classroom Agricultural Vocational High School and the 100-student capacity dormitory.

The ceremony was attended by Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber, Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Erdal Kılınç, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mehmet Karayılan, Maher Holding Chairman of the Board Mahmut Erdemoğlu, Maher Holding Vice Chairwoman Mine Erdemoğlu, Maher Holding CEO Levent Uluçeçen, Maher Holding Insurance Group President Ahmet Yaşar, and Maher Holding Board Members Gökay Erdemoğlu and Türkay Erdemoğlu, along with other protocol members.

A Hub Where Education and Agriculture Converge

The projects initiated by Quick Sigorta aim to train specialized professionals for the agricultural sector. The Quick Sigorta Mahmut Erdemoğlu Agricultural Vocational High School, with 16 classrooms, will feature:

  • Agricultural practice workshops
  • Greenhouse areas
  • Agricultural tools and machinery training areas
  • Livestock health and breeding sections for large and small animals
  • Paddocks, feeding areas, and clinical practice laboratories

Additionally, to accommodate students coming from neighboring districts, a 100-student capacity dormitory—Quick Sigorta Mine Erdemoğlu Student Dormitory—will be built.

Both buildings will be located on a 470-decare practice land belonging to Gaziantep University, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in agriculture.

"Leaving Behind Lasting and Beneficial Legacies"

Speaking at the protocol ceremony, Mahmut Erdemoğlu emphasized that the decision to initiate the project was made by the Maher Holding Board right after the February 6 earthquake. However, the implementation was postponed due to zoning revisions and debris clearance. He stated:

*"One of the core principles our late father, Mehmet Erdemoğlu, instilled in us was to leave behind permanent and beneficial legacies for our country.

After the earthquake, we decided to build a vocational high school that would contribute to the education of young people in the region and support the agricultural sector. Agricultural vocational high schools are crucial for areas where agriculture and livestock farming are dominant, as they offer young people a future without employment concerns.

We also expanded this project by adding a dormitory, ensuring that students from neighboring districts can also benefit.

Within the means granted to us, we aim to increase the number of such initiatives. The signing of today’s protocol marks an important step for both our region and our country, and we are proud to contribute to this cause."*

"This School is a Perfect Fit for the Region"

Speaking at the ceremony, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber highlighted the school’s potential impact on regional agriculture, stating:

*"We have long aimed to develop vocational high schools in our province, and we have identified the areas where they are most needed. The location, school concept, and objectives align perfectly.

In a few years, we will clearly see how right this decision was. This school is a perfect fit for this region. It will be a fully equipped institution serving the entire area, significantly contributing to regional agriculture.

Moreover, Mahmut Bey generously agreed to expand the project. Initially, only a high school was planned, but when the idea of adding a dormitory arose, he responded, 'That would be a perfect tribute to my wife,' and thus, the dormitory was included."*

"Those Who Manage Water and Soil Wisely Will Shape the Future"

Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin emphasized the importance of investing in human capital, stating:

*"This is an exceptionally well-thought-out project. Today marks the beginning of a significant initiative that merges theory and practice in a superb ecological setting.

Agriculture is one of our most critical sectors. Those who manage water and soil effectively will determine the course of the future.

This initiative aligns perfectly with the city's vision and foresight. When human capital is not developed, systems stagnate. Today, we are investing in people. This project will create a huge impact by combining theory and practice in Nurdağı."*

Quick Sigorta's Second and Third Educational Projects

Quick Sigorta’s commitment to education is centered on enhancing Turkey’s vocational education capacity and providing young people with a promising future.

This initiative follows the company’s previous project, the Quick Sigorta Gülseren Hüseyin Doğan Primary School in Alanya. With the addition of these two new projects in Nurdağı, Gaziantep, Quick Sigorta continues to expand its social responsibility initiatives in education.
